Itinerary

Day 1 Paddle and Meet Monkey Island

Pickup at airport or ground stop, move to AMAZON ECO LODGE PARADISE spot, for needed notes. (Bags not needed in rainforest can stay here to skip move issues). Can see town main square, take pics from Grau view spot, see meet of two big rivers: Madre de Dios, Tambopata.

Get on at Capitan Port to our Shelter: 40-minute sail on Madre de Dios River in usual Amazon boat.

– Greet meet, with tasty local fruit drink, set in rooms.

Paddle and Meet Monkey Island

After life vests on, get on boat then to paddle, enjoy outing, for safe always boat follows group with you, good chance to swim in Madre de Dios waters, ease from town tasks.

Across from ECO LODGE PARADISE, island with monkey group used to people, so can get near, feed, see how they live among types. Nice time with these fun animals.

Back to stay at PARADISE, afternoon break with drinks from bar, nice view from hammocks by Madre de Dios River bank, sunset across monkey island.

Alligator Search. After set, get on boat with float, go along river bank to see alligators on sands, can see other animals like night birds, Capybaras, biggest rodent globally.

Evening meal, rest.

Day 2 Sandoval Water Body

8 AM. Get on boat, travel Madre de Dios River to Sandoval Water Body entry for about 40 min. Here get off, walk short to Sandoval Water Body Check Post, they note, show entry passes, as this water body in Tambopata protected zone. Then go on trip, 3 km walk for about 45 min.

On tour, chance to see big varied plants, hopefully varied animals like birds, monkeys, small mammals, spiders, bugs, scale animals, jump animals.

At water body shores, enjoy fresh calm swim in this big water body, up to you, taste tasty usual rainforest midday meal then row boat, stroll on water body, this time look for birds like hoatzins, cormorants, anhingas, with luck best pull in Sandoval Water Body “fun River Wolves”.

Afternoon, set time with guide, leave water body to Madre de Dios River banks, boat waits to get on, take to AMAZON ECO LODGE PARADISE.

Day 3 Local Family Meet

8 AM. Morning meal.

This new mixed world lets us forget old cultures, habits. Show of ways from our native folks, big chance for direct touch with family from old fighters hunters, share their old ways, help money wise with buy some products they make.

Simple Fishing

Afternoon go on next task, take boat to stream for simple fishing like (catfish, small, sardines or piranha).

Back to shelter, evening meal, rest.

Day 4 Nature Outing

After meet staff, leave bags in rooms, go to outing center.

Treetop

Stroll in forest (200 meters) to Treetop Tower, 35 m up, made at foot of huge lupuna Tree for Amazon by its big size, day can see varied birds plus nice natural view on trees, guide explains on animals local plants.

Zip Line.

After enjoy stroll on Treetop bridge, start zip line task, guide explains how, put on gear for task, needed safe stuff after guide tips, slide 190 meter zip line, other end helper meets to help cross 100m small bridge. return by 190 m zip to start spot.

After leave all gear back to Shelter for midday meal.

Midday Meal

After good midday meal can nap in hammocks, after ready for next outing.

Paddle

Paddle task starts from Shelter, take paddles oars, after life vests on get on boat then start task enjoy outing, for safe always boat follows group with you down river Good chance to swim in Madre de Dios waters, ease from town tasks.

Back to shelter, evening meal, rest.

Day 5 Watch Spots

In 2005 made Treetop Path, 90m hang bridge up to spot on top 300-year lupuna, at 45m, highest natural watch point in rainforest. Staff volunteers use as one watch spots for birds.

Taricaya Turtle Plan: In 2006 started Turtle Grow Back plan

Taricaya to save this at risk type. Local folks take eggs for eat sell. Staff volunteers gather eggs July to September plant on made sands in Protected till hatch October November then let turtles to natural home.

Butterfly Plan: In 2010 made butterfly spot to learn biology these animals manage lasting as other to use wild life for sell.

At 6 AM approx. Get there place in good spot safe distance wait come varied parrot types hopefully macaws; special chance see blue head parrots, dawn ones, small parrots some other bird types too. Here clay has mineral salts birds eat before usual rainforest task like eat fruits more to cancel poisons from eaten fruits. This lasts about 1 hour, time to record get best views, watch these nice interesting birds with jungle sunrise.

Around 7 morning back to place for last morning meal then go back to Puerto Maldonado town.

Tambopata Cacao Taste Trip

Start taste path into Amazon chocolate world, led by local pro who shows secrets on cacao grow make. Check different cacao kinds, learn their special traits role in make good chocolate.

As we go into usual chocolate make way, join roast grind cacao beans, like local growers did long. Rich smell fresh roast cacao fills air as see change from raw bean to smooth chocolate.
