Day 1: Cusco to Santa Teresa – A Journey to Rejuvenating Hot Springs

Begin your thrilling adventure at 6:30 AM by gathering at the Machu Picchu Reservation Office in Cusco. From there, embark on a scenic 6-hour car ride through the breathtaking Sacred Valley of the Incas. As you traverse this stunning landscape, marvel at the picturesque towns of Vilcabamba and the majestic Vilcanota mountain ranges, along with the vibrant native town of Chinchero.   1. Walking Option: Start your journey at 4:30 AM with a 1.5-hour hike from your hotel to Puente Ruinas, where you’ll present your Machu Picchu tickets and original passports to gain entry. Continue with an uphill trek, climbing approximately 1,700 steps over the next hour to one hour and 20 minutes, until you reach the main gate of Machu Picchu. Here, you’ll join your group and guide to begin your unforgettable exploration of this ancient Inca citadel.
  2. Bus Option: Purchase a $12 bus ticket in Aguas Calientes either the night before or on the same morning. Board a bus departing at 5:30 AM, and enjoy the 30-minute ride to Machu Picchu. Upon arrival around 6:00 AM, meet up with your group and guide to enter the site and begin your exploration.

Machu Picchu Guided Tour: Your tour includes a Machu Picchu ticket, typically corresponding to Circuit 02 (alternatives Circuit 03 or 04 if unavailable).
